Villa Zapatero Second, Panthers Fourth In NCAA-II Regional

KENOSHA, Wis. - Jaime Villa Zapatero finished second individually, leading the Drury men's cross country team to a fourth-place finish in the NCAA-II Midwest Regional held here on Saturday.

Villa Zapatero, in finishing second in the region for the second straight year, finished in 32:29, seven seconds behind winner Tyler Emmorey of team champion Grand Valley State, but also qualified for the NCAA-II Championships for the second straight year. The junior from Madrid, Spain finished 20th at the NCAA meet last year to earn All-America status.

Grand Valley State (38 points), Saginaw Valley State (88) and Southern Indiana (90) finished in the top three and thereby earned slots in the NCAA-II Championships in two weeks in Evansville, Ind. Drury was fourth with 138 points.

Juniors Derek Berry (33:22) and Steven Busch finished 16th and 27th, respectively, for the Panthers.

Hopkins also was selected to the all-tournament team after picking up a team-high 41 kills with a .349 attack percentage in helping the Panthers to a 1-3 finish in the Extended Stay Invitational in Anchorage, Alaska, last weekend.

Volleyball
Warren was named to the all-tournament team after registering 123 assists and 40 digs and helping the Panthers to a 1-3 finish at the Extended Stay Seven Invitational in Anchorage, Alaska.
