Drury men's golf coach Kellen Mast has announced the signing of two Missouri prep standouts to NCAA letters of intent for the 2010-11 season.
Jonathan Fulp of Springfield's Glendale High School and Gabe Laske of Parkway West High School in Ballwin have committed to join the Panthers next season.
Fulp, a three-year letter-winner for the Falcons of coach Sean Williamson, placed 19th in last spring's Missouri Class 4 state championships and helped Glendale to a fourth-place team finish. Fulp is a regular on the American Junior Golf Association circuit the past four years and is ranked ninth among Missouri's senior golfers by one scouting service. He plans to major in Finance at Drury.
Laske has been an All-Conference and All-District honoree and qualified for the state high school tournament in his sophomore and junior seasons and has played in more than 100 tournaments the past five years, including victories in Gateway PGA Junior and Plantations Tour events. He finished 11th out of 64 players in the first PGA Junior Series event in Urbana, Ill., where he was tied for the lead after an even-par opening round.
Both Laske and Fulp shot 229 totals for three rounds and finished in a tie for 29th at last summer's AJGA Payne Stewart Invitational at the Rivercut Golf Course.
"We are very excited to have signed Jonathan and Gabe for next year," Mast says. "Both have had great success at the regional and national levels and both have incredible work ethics and a desire to continue to improve. We're not only getting two quality golfers, but two quality kids. I expect both to step in and contribute right away next year."
The Panthers have three seniors - Sam Steelman, Nathan Brunzie and Blake Kelley - on a squad that posted two second-place finishes in four events during the fall portion of the schedule.
