Main Athletic Logo
EUGENE, Ore. - Drury University sophomore-to-be Case Van Arkel finished 24th in the 5000 meter run at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships which came to a close here on Sunday.

Competing in the Junior Nationals men's division, the Springfield Parkview High School product completed the race in 16:42.65. The event was won by Oklahoma State's Colby Lowe in 14:31.27, just ahead of runner-up Sean Keveren of Virginia (14:38.30).

Drury incoming freshman Tory Groover, a standout recruit from Logan-Rogersville High School, was slated to compete in the high jump at the USA Championships, but unfortunate travel delays with flights out of Tulsa kept Groover from arriving in Eugene in time to participate. Groover won the Missouri Class 3 state championship with a jump of 6-foot-8 last month, and cleared 7-foot and 1/4 inch at the Willard Relays as a prep senior.
