Drury's baseball Panthers will dive into Great Lakes Valley Conference play for the first time this season when they play host to Saint Joseph's in a doubleheader Saturday at Meador Park, weather-permitting.
The Panthers (6-8) and the Pumas (4-5) will play a nine and a seven-inning game starting at noon.
Drury has been idle since its wild 19-18, come-from-behind win over Arkansas Tech last Sunday to complete the Heffington Optical Invitational at Meador. Coach Mark Stratton's Panthers rallied from a nine-run deficit (12-3) in the fifth inning for the victory.
Saint Joseph's is coming off a 2-3 trip to Florida, including 9-7 and 8-3 losses to perennial power Grand Valley State and a 17-6 setback on Tuesday to Tampa in the Pumas' most recent outing.
Saint Joseph's is picked for fourth in the GLVC East, while the Panthers were preseason picks to finish second in the GLVC West.
Drury continues its weekend homestand on Sunday with a noon GLVC doubleheader against Wisconsin-Parkside.
