After a slate that has seen them play their first 17 games on the road, the Drury softball Panthers will make their Thompson Field debut this spring when they play host to Northern Kentucky in Great Lakes Valley Conference play on Saturday.
The GLVC doubleheader between the Panthers (5-12 overall, 2-2 in the GLVC) and the Norse (8-6, 2-0) has been moved from an original noon start now to a 2 p.m. first pitch for weather-related reasons.
Drury dropped a pair of hard-fought decisions on Wednesday at Central Missouri, falling 3-2 in eight innings in the opener before losing 4-1 in the nightcap.
Northern Kentucky, picked for third in the GLVC preseason poll of league coaches to Drury's 12th, is riding a four-game winning streak into Saturday's contest.
Senior Sadie Ball is batting .375 with three homers and 14 RBIs and senior Jessica Matlock is hitting .327 with five homers and 14 RBIs to pace the DU attack. Junior Kelsea Garthoff has led the Panthers on the mound with her 4-5 record and 2.86 ERA in 12 appearances.
The Panthers will play host to preseason league favorite Indianapolis on Sunday in a noon start at Thompson.
