Drury basketball and soccer fans certainly are reminded every time she makes a basket or scores a goal in her ultra-athletic way just how fortunate they are to have Katie Pritchard ... and on Tuesday night, her followers at Waynesville High School showed just how much they miss their former star, too.
Waynesville High paid tribute to DU's two-sport standout by retiring her No. 10 soccer jersey during a ceremony held prior to the Tigers' soccer game with Joplin.
Pritchard, who played her first season of soccer at Drury last fall, was a four-time all-state selection at Waynesville High and finished her career with 171 goals, most in Missouri prep history.
Pritchard, who has been a standout for the DU Lady Panthers basketball squad the past two seasons, played her first season of soccer for Coach Alf Bilbao's Panthers last fall. She scored nine goals and added five assists for 23 points, second on the squad and good enough to earn Third Team All-GLVC honors.
Pritchard will be a sophomore in soccer eligibility this fall for the Panthers, who return the majority of last season's 13-6 finisher, including junior forward Nicole Williams (the team's leading scorer with 11 goals) and senior goalkeeper Jessie Sanderson, a three-time All-GLVC selection who registered 11 shutouts last season and has 31 for her DU career.
