Drury senior pitcher Kyle Dyer, one of the top closers in the Great Lakes Valley Conference last season, has continued his outstanding work right on through the summer months in the Hawaiian League.
Dyer, who transferred to DU from Missouri State last fall, has compiled a 4-0 record with a 1.99 earned run average in leading his Waikiki Surfers (22-16) squad into the HBCL championship game to be played on August 4.
The 6-foot-3 right-hander from Sand Springs, Okla., who went 5-1 with five saves last season for the Panthers has struck out 38 and walked 14 in his 58 innings of work.
That includes one of his top outings of the season earlier this week, when Dyer pitched a complete game and struck out 10 in a 9-2 victory over the Kamuela Paniolos in the league's tournament semifinals.
