Volleyball Panthers Open Play Friday With Two Matches In TWU Classic

Drury's volleyball Panthers will look to get back on a winning track when they play a total of four matches Friday and Saturday in the Texas Woman's University Holiday Inn Express Classic in Denton, Texas.
Coach Ashleigh Shear Fitzgerald's Panthers opened the season 1-3 last weekend with four matches in Alaska hosted by the University of Alaska Anchorage.
This time, the Panthers will take on Northwest Nazarene at 2 p.m.. and East Stroudsburg at 7 p.m. on Friday before facing host Texas Woman's University at 12:30 p.m. and Texas A&M International at 5:30 on Saturday.
Northwest Nazarene of Nampa, Idaho,, with four returning starters from a 15-14 finisher last season, has been picked for fifth in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference poll. The Crusaders will be opening their season with the match against Drury on Friday as will East Stroudsburg (Pa.), which has four starters returning from a 10-21 squad last season.
TWU of the Lone Star Conference has five starters back from a 16-17 squad of last season, while Texas A&M International's Dustdevils, members of the Heartland Conference, are coming off a 3-28 campaign in 2009.
