Richards debuts for the Marlins

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.- Drury alum and former Panthers pitcher Trevor Richards made his major league debut on Monday as the Miami Marlins starting pitcher against the Boston Red Sox.
 
Richards, the first former Drury player in the 11-year history of the Panthers baseball program to reach the major leagues, retired the first man he faced when he got Mookie Betts to pop up to the shortstop. He struck out the next batter, Andrew Benintendi, on three pitches. Richards retired the first six batters he faced before yielding three runs in fourth inning.
 
Richards ended up taking the loss going 4.1 innings allowing eight hits and five runs with one walk and five strikeouts. The Red Sox won the game 7-3.
